Gerald Freedman Returns to Connecticut To Direct "Anne Frank" at Westport

Veteran director Gerald Freedman will stage the Westport Country Playhouse production of "The Diary of Anne Frank."
The production, with cast still to be announced, will run Sept. 28 to Oct. 16.
Freedman was an artistic force at Joe Papp's Public Theater, where he directed a wide variety of groundbreaking productions, including "Titus Andronicus" in Central Park as well as the original production of "Hair."
Broadway credits include the 1964 and 1980 revivals of "West Side Story," Arthur Miller's "The Creation of the World and Other Business" (which featured Playhouse artistic director Mark Lamos in the cast on the 1972 production), 1976's "The Robber Bridegroom." 1979's "The Grand Tour," 1995's "The School for Scandal."
Freedman was also former artistic director of the American Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, Conn.
